What Korean regulation and practice call a "soil investigation" or "soil and groundwater investigation" is, in international terms, a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment — drilling, sampling, and laboratory analysis to confirm whether contamination identified as likely in Phase I actually exists, and to what extent and concentration.
